Traits of a Leader

The Key to Success in Your Home Internet Business

Linda Stokes asked:

As a coach and mentor in the Network Marketing industry, I’ve worked with literally hundreds of budding entrepreneurs.  In each and every case, one trait seems to stand out in those who succeed in their business and it’s the one trait missing in those who fail.  Some might think that trait is “polish or professionalism” – but they would be wrong.  “Great salesmanship” might be another answer, but nope, that’s not it.  Aha, “business savvy” could be the answer. No again.

The one trait all successful business owners have in common is their “stick-to-it-ness”, their commitment to their business.  The ones who are successful, simply refuse to fail.  Their attitude is “I’ll do what ever it takes. I’m not quitting. I’m going to make this work.”

Often, when someone starts a Network Marketing Business, especially if they are working a traditional J.O.B. while they get their business started, they hold something back.  They have the attitude that they’ll stick their toe in the water to see how it feels.  If they have a moment of feeling uncomfortable, they can pull their toe out of the water and be “safe”.  If they can’t make their new business venture work out, they will stay in a job that is draining the life out of them. So the subliminal message they are sending to the potential clients is “I’m not really sold on this business, you don’t want to give it a try.  Do you?”

Your prospect can feel your commitment level to your business.  Often, their objections to doing business with you are made in order to test your level of commitment.  If you are not all they way in, your prospect will feel it.  Even though you might have the best deal going, the most you can hope to achieve is mediocre success, at best.

Often the lack of commitment to the business comes from low self esteem. If you have a negative attitude, it will imbue every aspect of your business. Negative self-talk, and complaining with the other negative people (they are in almost every organization) cause you to expect failure.  Instead of getting excited about your business and following what your leader teaches, you don’t do the simple daily actions that will assure your success.

So, do your homework – your due diligence, first.  If you like the company, the products and the people and you’ve invested in the start-up kit, get busy.  There are lots of people earning seven figure incomes in Network Marketing. It is truly an industry where the average person with above average dreams and goals can make a fortune.

Follow the Leader!  There are people in your business making the big bucks.  Cultivate them.  Watch what they do and do it.  Show up.  Be at every meeting or conference call possible. Commit to always changing and improving yourself.  Hang out with the Positive people in the organization.  Ask someone successful to mentor you.  Be coachable.  Study your company history, the products, the compensation plan.  Say “yes” to the opportunity.  The people who make the money are the ones who are more constant, more enthusiastic, more ambitious and do not quit.  Those who are positive and enthusiastic will find they won’t be able to resist the urge to get started, keep going and earn the money they know they can.

Many people in Network Marketing earn a six figure income.  Some earn that much in a month – and more.  Just imagine where they would be if they had given up after only a few months?  Where will you be in the future if you quit?
